Sparano tells Carr: Raiders your team
Interim Oakland head coach Tony Sparano left no doubt Friday. The Raiders is quarterback Derek Carr’s team and he can no longer play like a rookie from here on out.
Sparano named Carr the starter for Week 6 against the San Diego Chargers.
Carr, who suffered an MCL sprain and high ankle sprain against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, has passed for only 734 yards and four touchdowns in four games.
That’s just not good enough, Sparano said.
And after talking with Sparano, Carr agreed.
“Now it’s like, ‘Here are the keys, now take it and let’s go,” Carr told NFL.com. “There’s no easing into it anymore. We’ve already done that for the first four games. Now it’s, ‘You’re our guy. Let’s roll. Lead them and let’s go do this thing.'”
