Chiefs Looking To Make Eric Berry Highest Paid Safety
Details on Chiefs negotiations with Eric Berry.
A few weeks ago, it felt like the Kansas City Chiefs and Eric Berry wasn’t going to be able to reach an agreement on a long-term deal. While nothing is final, the feeling now is optimism if you’re a Chiefs fan.
According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs are working hard to make Eric Berry the highest paid safety in the world. Last season, Berry was franchise tagged and while the Chiefs could go down that route again, Berry threatened the front office that he would consider sitting out if that were to be the case.
The All-Pro safety wants long-term security and who could blame him?
After all, Berry is the heart and soul of this defensive unit. Also, if the two sides are able to reach an agreement, Kansas City could use their franchise tag on defensive tackle Dontari Poe, which would be huge literally and figuratively.
