Arians: Cardinals DE Campbell hurt on ‘dirtiest play’
Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell is likely to miss at least a month with a knee injury. He was injured on a chop block by Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas.
Thomas, who was assigned a chip block on Campbell, instead hit him with his right shoulder directly on the right knee coming off the snap.
Officials threw a penalty flag on the play, nullifying a 77-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas.
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said the block was “the dirtiest play I’ve seen in 37 years.”
Arizona also lost quarterback Drew Stanton (concussion) and cornerback Patrick Peterson limped off the field with an apparent ankle or foot injury.
