Jay Gruden Rips Into Team Following Loss To Cardinals

Jay Gruden reveals frustration following the loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Everything was fine just a few weeks ago, but in this league, things can change in a blink of the eye, which is exactly what’s happening to the Redskins right now. Following their 42-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers a couple weeks ago, the Redskins were sitting pretty with a record of (6-3-1).

Now, after losing two straight, Washington find themselves behind the surging Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the sixth and final playoff spot. Yesterday, the Redskins got off to another slow start against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals went on to win 31-23.

Head coach Jay Gruden voiced his frustration.

“I don’t like the way we came out,” Gruden admitted. “That’s not the way we want to come out of a football game, getting ready for a good team on the road. I don’t like the fact that we had two turnovers and we didn’t cause any. I don’t like the fact we lost the game. It was a good team. Hats off to coach [Bruce] Arians and the Arizona Cardinals, but I feel we underachieved today and that’s very frustrating.”

As Washington looks to get back on track, they’ll be faced with a difficult road task this Sunday at Philadelphia.
