Update: The Miami Dolphins have agreed to a deal with former Bills and Texans defensive end Mario Williams.

According to a report from Bleacher Report, the Miami Dolphins are close to a deal with free agent defensive end Mario Williams.

Assuming they come to terms, the Dolphins will have restructured their entire defensive line in the past few years as they made the biggest free agent splash last season signing defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

The only problem with the line renovation is that the Dolphins defensive line was a team strength prior to the Suh signing, with Cameron Wake, Olivier Vernon and Jared Odrick.  Last season, the Miami offensive line significantly underperformed.

If Miami decides to let go of Wake, there should be a significant market for his services, as well as for Olivier Vernon, who the Dolphins placed the franchise tag on.

Mario Williams may have had the more productive career than Vernon up to this point, but he’s four years older and it’s usually not a wide move to get older at athletic positions.
