Week 10 Power Rankings
Find out where your favorite team stands in our weekly Power Rankings.
- New England Patriots 8-0: Another week, another Patriots victory. At this point it seems like the only question is whether or not they’ll cover the spread.
- Cincinnati Bengals 8-0: We’ve been saying for a couple of years now that the Bengals were building one of the best rosters in football. This season they’re finally starting to play like it.
- Carolina Panthers 8-0: The Carolina Panthers have passed the stage of, “Wow, I can’t believe they’re still doing this!” The Panthers are one of the best teams in football, and Cam Newton should be a strong candidate for MVP.
- Denver Broncos 7-1: So, um, what the heck happened in Indianapolis this weekend? We’ll chalk it up to just one of those games this time, but the Broncos seemed to exhale after putting a lot of energy into the Packers game last week.
- Green Bay Packers 6-2: Aaron Rodgers can spell out whatever words he wants; The last two losses for the Packers should be a concern. It doesn’t matter how good your quarterback is if everyone else isn’t doing their job.
- Arizona Cardinals 6-2: The Cardinals are coming out of their bye week with a huge match-up in Seattle on the docket. If Arizona can beat the Seahawks in Seattle they’ll take a three game lead over the defending champs in the division.
- Seattle Seahawks 4-4: If the Seahawks are going to make another late season run, this is the week it will have to start. They can’t afford to fall three games behind the Cardinals or fall into third place behind an improving Rams team.
- Minnesota Vikings 6-2: The Vikings pulled out a big overtime victory over the surging Rams on Sunday, and they’ll face an exciting but inconsistent Raiders team this week in what should be a fun match-up between up and coming teams.
- Pittsburgh Steelers 5-4: It’s going to be difficult for the Steelers to hang around in the Top-10 with Ben Roethlisberger going down again, but we’ll give them the nod now because they deserve it after their overtime victory over Oakland.
- Atlanta Falcons 6-3: The Falcons have been a nice surprise under Dan Quinn this season, but back to back losses to Tampa Bay and San Francisco should be a concern. The bye week may be coming at the perfect time for this team.
- Oakland Raiders 4-4: The Raiders may not have been able to pull off the victory against Pittsburgh this weekend, but there were more flashes of why Jack Del Rio’s team is heading in the right direction.
- New York Jets: 5-3: The New York Jets are like that guy you don’t want to meet in an alley. They’re ugly enough that you almost feel bad for them, but mean enough that you’re worried they might beat the hell out of you.
- St. Louis Rams 4-4: The Rams were surging and may have leapt into the top ten with an impressive victory over Minnesota Sunday, but it wasn’t meant to be. Todd Gurley will make this team tougher the longer the season goes.
- Philadelphia Eagles 4-4: The Eagles snuck out the overtime victory over Dallas on Sunday which doesn’t make us any less confused about the turbulent NFC East.
- New Orleans Saints 4-5: Just when it looked like the Saints were starting to figure some things out, they lose to Titans at home. At the end of the day, the Saints are just another mediocre team in a year where parity seems to be working out just the way the league would like.
- New York Giants 5-4: The Giants back and forth season should continue this weekend as the team hosts the Patriots a week after their victory over Tampa Bay. This isn’t a Super Bowl, and there are no historic streaks on the table, so the Patriots should be safe.
- Indianapolis Colts 4-5: When 4-5 is good enough to lead your division, a win like the Colts picked up over Denver this weekend could be big. Their division will get them to the playoffs, and Sunday’s win should give them a little confidence when they get there.
- Buffalo Bills 4-4: The best way to recover from a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars is to pick up a division victory. Rex Ryan is probably already back to telling them they’re the best team in football.
- Miami Dolphins 3-5: Two weeks ago Dan Campbell’s Dolphins were like a tea pot whistling and blowing steam atop a hot stove. Today it’s like the burner has been turned off.
- Kansas City Chiefs 3-5: The Chiefs come off of their bye week with an opportunity to go to Denver and lose to the Broncos. Yes, of course that’s what’s going to happen. It always happens.
- Dallas Cowboys 2-6: The Cowboys haven’t won since Tony Romo went down, and we’ve been saying they may not win until his return. That said, the Cowboys are in Tampa this weekend so…..
- Cleveland Browns 2-7: The only real question in Cleveland is if the Browns record is finally bad enough for them to stop wasting time with Josh McCown and will finally give Johnny Manziel an opportunity to grow into the position.
- Washington Redskins 3-5: Is it weird to think it’s almost impressive that the Redskins only lost by 17, or only gave up 27 to the Patriots?
- Chicago Bears 3-5: Say whatever you want about the Chicago Bears, because they’re not very good, but they’re certainly more competitive under John Fox than they were a year ago.
- Houston Texans 3-5: The Texans are coming off of their bye week to bring their special brand of disappointment to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. It will be uglier than a Cowboy hat.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-5: The Buccaneers have a ton of problems that aren’t going away any time soon, but they also have a rookie quarterback who hasn’t turned the ball over in four weeks, is already becoming the leader of his team, and is proving worthy of being the number one overall selection in the draft this past April, and that’s something.
- Baltimore Ravens 2-6: The Baltimore Ravens are like that old pair of shoes you don’t want to throw away. No matter how bad they’ve gotten, you still feel like there’s got to be a little tread left on them. There isn’t.
- San Francisco 49ers 3-6: The 49ers still aren’t very good, but every now and then they sneak up and steal one. Let’s hope they can get a couple more and find a way to keep Jim Tomsula around. The guy is a gift.
- San Diego Chargers 2-7: They’re going to have to re-write that god awful San Diego Super-Chargers song if this keeps up.
- Tennessee Titans 2-6: The Titans stink, but that overtime touchdown pass was a nice notch in the belt for Marcus Mariota. Like the Bucs, they may have a long way to go as a team, but they seem to have gotten in right at quarterback in this year’s draft.
- Detroit Lions 1-7: The Detroit Lions are coming off of their bye. Sorry about that, Detroit.
- Jacksonville Jaguars 2-6: The Jaguars hung around against the Jets, but it’s a sad commentary that hanging around against a team that isn’t really elite themselves, feels like an accomplishment for this team.
In the NFL, it’s always better to admit a mistake than to compound it. For the Buccaneers, the decision to burn a 2016 second-round pick on kicker Robert Aguayo has proven to be a mistake.
