Dolphins DE Wake placed on IR
The Sports Xchange
Two days after losing Cameron Wake to a season-ending Achilles tendon injury, the Miami Dolphins placed the veteran defensive end on injured reserve Saturday.
Wake was injured during the third quarter of Thursday’s 36-7 loss at New England when he attempted to sack quarterback Tom Brady. He was taken off the field and into the locker room on a cart and may have ended his seven-year run with the Dolphins.
Wake, 33, had seven sacks and four caused fumbles in the last three games after dealing with a hamstring injury earlier this season.
Besides losing Wake for the season, the Dolphins will be without right tackle Ja’Wuan James because of a toe injury for the next few weeks.
The Dolphins added an offensive lineman to their roster Saturday, signing Ulrick John from the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad. John was a seventh-round pick by Indianapolis in 2014 out of Georgia State but has yet to appear in an NFL game.
John missed last season with a right leg injury and has been with the Colts’ practice squad after getting waived by the team Sept. 5.
