Titans experiencing roster stability
The Sports Xchange
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans have been relatively fortunate through the first five weeks of the season. They have had injuries that have kept players from being able to play, but they have yet to have to make any roster moves from the initial 53 players who began the year on the roster.
That will change in a couple of weeks, however, but perhaps in a good way. Rookie running back David Cobb, who was placed on reserve/injured with a designation to return, will be able to begin practicing again and can come off the list after the Titans’ seventh game. If there are no injuries that force someone else to injured reserve, the Titans could be forced to make a tough choice and likely would have to let go of a running back because they are already heavy at the position.
–Linebacker Zach Brown may have lost his starting job, as he is now in a platoon with veteran Wesley Woodyard. Brown’s tackling had left something to be desired through the first four games, and last Sunday, it was Woodyard who got the start and played 29 snaps. Brown played 15, and the Titans were in nickel or dime the remainder of the time.
“We have a rotation that we feel like is going to bring out the best in us, and there may be times where one plays more than the other, but they’re both going to be involved,” Whisenhunt said.
–Guard Chance Warmack said he is ready to go this week after missing the past two games with a sprained MCL.
Warmack figured as much after he started and was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice as the Titans went in pads.
“I’ll be out there (Sunday). I was out there in full pads running teams, so I know what that means,” Warmack said.
Notes: Left tackle Taylor Lewan (shoulder) was listed as limited, but did not do much in Wednesday’s work during the open portion of practice. Lewan has been bothered by a pinched nerve in his left shoulder and has had to come out of the past two games with the injury.
