Report: Raiders to fire Dennis Allen
Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen could be fired as early as Tuesday.
AP reported Sunday night that the decision was made to let Allen go during the team’s upcoming bye week.
Asked about his job status earlier Sunday, when the Raiders lost to the Miami Dolphins 38-14 at Wembley Stadium in London, Allen did not care to address reports that owner Mark Davis was ready to let him go.
“Yeah, that’s, that’s not my concern right now,” Allen said.
Oakland is 32nd in the NFL in total offense and lost rookie quarterback Derek Carr to a sprained knee ligament and high ankle sprain.
Allen was also asked if the Raiders have lost faith.
“No, I don’t think so,” Allen said. “I think that we got to continue to keep working and, again, we got a lot of things we got to look at this bye week and see what we can do to get better.”
Allen is 8-27 as head coach in Oakland. He was hired after a successful stint as Denver Broncos defensive coordinator.
If he’s fired this week, former Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano is expected to be named interim coach.
Allen said Sunday he’s planning plenty of self-scouting during the bye.
“We’re going to look at things that we got to do during the bye week. We got a long flight going back and we got a week off to evaluate everything that we’re doing and see what we need to do moving forward to get better,” he said.
