WASHINGTON — Wide receiver Pierre Garcon overcame a bothersome knee Sunday, helping the Washington Redskins overcome the Philadelphia Eagles.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Garcon with 26 seconds left, lifting the Redskins to a 23-20 win over the Eagles at FedEx Field.

Garcon caught seven passes for 55 yards, including three on the final drive.

“He’s one of the greatest competitors on this football team and people feed off of that,” Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. “Those are some tough catches he made today.”

Starting on their own 10-yard line with 6:05 left, the Redskins (2-2) used a mix of passes and runs to get to the Eagles’ 34 at the two-minute warning.

On third-and-6, Cousins hit Garcon for 14 yards to the 16, and the pair connected again for 12 yards, setting up the game-winning pass, which Garcon held onto despite getting crunched between two Philadelphia defenders.

“He runs precise routes,” Cousins said. “He runs to the football. He’s fearless.”

Garcon left the game briefly due to his knee, but returned in time for the final drive.

“Just something been going on for a while. Just decided to get worse after I went deep,” Garcon said of his knee. “Glad it didn’t give out on me right before the end of the game.”

Cousins bounced back from a subpar effort against the Giants to finish 31-of-46 for 290 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He went 6-for-10 on the game-winning drive.

“He’s managing the football game and he’s putting us in position to win in the fourth quarter and we finally did that,” Gruden said.

Philadelphia quarterback Sam Bradford threw three second-half touchdown passes as the Eagles rallied from a 13-0 halftime deficit. He finished 15-for-29 for 269 yards for the 1-3 Eagles.

What we learned about the Redskins:

1. Rookie wide receiver Jamison Crowder is making an impact. With wide receiver Andre Roberts inactive, Crowder was targeted 12 times Sunday, and he hauled in seven catches for 65 yards. “He’s a tough guy,” coach Jay Gruden said. “Handles the running game, smart, obviously makes big catches. The game’s not too big for him, you can see that.”

2. Pierre Garcon still can take a hit. Playing in his 103rd game, the 29-year-old wide receiver absorbed several big hits, including one on a final 4-yard touchdown catch when he was sandwiched between two defenders. “I looked back and saw the ball coming, reached out for it, caught it, and then I felt hits from all over, hits from everybody,” he said. “I looked and was glad I was on the other side of the white line instead of a yard short.”

3. The Redskins can get to the quarterback. The defense accumulated four sacks over the first three games but got to Sam Bradford five times in Sunday’s win over Philadelphia. “Obviously, you want pressure on every play, but they did a nice job with the play-actions and the runs to keep us off balance a little bit,” Gruden said. “Overall, I felt good about the pass rush.”

–QB Kirk Cousins rebounded from a subpar outing against the Giants by playing well Sunday in Washington’s 23-20 win over the Eagles. He completed 31 of 46 passes for 290 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. He also engineered the game-winning, 15-play, 90-yard drive. “You can see that his decision-making is pretty good,” coach Jay Gruden said. “To have that high a completion percentage, touchdown, no interceptions, one sack … he’s managing the football game. He’s putting us in a position to win in the fourth quarter, and we finally did that.”

–WR Pierre Garcon had seven catches for 55 yards Sunday in the Redskins’ win over the Eagles. –RB Alfred Morris ran for 62 yards on 17 carries, including 38 yards on the game-winning, 90-yard drive late in the fourth quarter Sunday against the Eagles. “We kept chipping away, and then I was finally able to find some creases and get a couple of decent runs, which was when really mattered, in the last drive,” he said.

–DE Chris Baker had two of Washington’s five sacks of Eagles QB Sam Bradford on Sunday. “That’s what (defensive) linemen work for: tackles for loss and sacks,” Baker said. “It was my first time ever getting two sacks in one game, so it felt great.”
