One day after the Arizona Cardinals released Kerwynn Williams, the team re-signed the running back to its practice squad.

Williams played in the Cardinals’ 48-23 victory over the Chicago Bears last Sunday, rushing for 3 yards on one carry.

Last season, Williams saw action in five games for the Cardinals, rushing for 246 yards on 53 carries and catching two passes for 11 yards.

In a win over the Kansas City Chiefs last December, Williams ran for 100 yards on 19 carries. He came back the following week with 75 yards on 15 rushes in a win over the St. Louis Rams.

Williams, a seventh-round draft pick, began his NFL career with Indianapolis in 2013 and played in one game for the Colts. He also spent time on the San Diego Chargers’ practice squad.
