It was not a good weekend for quarterbacks, as three prominent signal-callers could miss several games with injuries, and the status of a fourth is uncertain.

Chicago Bears head coach John Fox said Monday that quarterback Jay Cutler is day-to-day with a hamstring injury, but ESPN reported Cutler could miss “at least two games.”

Jimmy Clausen will start this week at Seattle.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees could potentially miss several games with a shoulder injury, according to the NFL Network.

Brees took a hit to his throwing shoulder in the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to Tampa Bay and he had issues the remainder of the contest.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo could be a candidate for injured reserve-designated to return to the 53-man roster in eight weeks after opting against surgery on his fractured left collarbone.

Brandon Weeden played Sunday after Romo was injured.

–Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell said Matthew Stafford, who took a pounding from the Minnesota Vikings, is “very, very sore” and he didn’t know whether the quarterback would be able play this week against the Denver Broncos.

Caldwell gave reporters a limited update on Stafford’s condition and would not commit to Stafford’s availability as the Lions seek their first win of the season.

— Johnny Manziel could make another start for the Cleveland Browns.

One day after the quarterback notched his first career NFL win, Browns head coach said Manziel would work with the starters until Josh McCown’s status is clarified. As of Monday, Pettine said, McCown was still in the league concussion protocol. He left the field Week 1 with a head injury.

–Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Josh Boyd broke his right ankle and additional tests showed possible ligament damage in Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, according to his agent.

Agent Rodney Edwards told ESPN.com that Boyd may need surgery, which could require an 8-10 week recovery.

–The Packers got better news regarding running back Eddie Lacy, who left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. X-rays taken Sunday night came back negative, and Lacy could be back in the lineup when the Packers face the Kansas City Chiefs next Monday night.

The Packers also signed inside linebacker Joe Thomas off the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad to their 53-man roster, ESPN.com reported.

–Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers may have been talking directly to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson when he said “I think God was a Packers fan tonight” after Sunday’s 27-17 win.

In January, after the Seahawks rallied to beat the Packers in the NFC Championship Game in overtime, Wilson shared his belief that God had a hand in the team’s victory.

Rodgers countered then that he did not think God is a big football fan.

–Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Tevin Coleman is out with a fractured rib and there is no timetable for his return.

Head coach Dan Quinn said Coleman’s return depends on his pain threshold. A source told ESPN that Coleman is expected to miss a couple of weeks.

–Buffalo Bills safety Aaron Williams was released from the hospital on Monday.

Williams was monitored overnight. He was taken off the field by an ambulance with a neck injury suffered during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

–Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson will likely miss multiple weeks after injuring his left knee during Sunday’s victory over Miami.

The nature of Robinson’s injury hasn’t yet been revealed by the Jaguars.

–The Baltimore Ravens acquired third-year cornerback Will Davis from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Davis has played in 15 career games, but was buried on Miami’s depth chart and inactive for the first two games of this season.

–Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said Pro Bowler Ndamukong Suh didn’t freelance on defense in Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars as had been reported.

“There’s a report that Ndamukong Suh was freelancing out there on the field,” Philbin said. “I just watched the entire tape with the entire defensive staff. I didn’t see anything of the sort, so I’m not sure where that came from.”

— Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly said he was embarrassed watching the offense sputter against the Dallas Cowboys as his team remained winless after two games.

“I was embarrassed,” Kelly said Monday about the 20-10 loss. “That’s not the way we’re supposed to play football and that’s not what we’re all about. We didn’t play well yesterday. It was embarrassing how we played yesterday.”

Kelly said he believes the Eagles can improve without changing their personnel.

— Tennessee Titans right tackle Chance Warmack will miss Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a sprained right knee.

Warmack was injured in the second quarter of last Sunday’s loss to the Cleveland Browns. He reportedly sprained the medial collateral ligament.

— The Washington Redskins announced they re-signed free agent defensive end Frank Kearse and waived cornerback David Amerson.
