QUARTERBACKS

1) Drew Brees TB @ NO $7800

Drew Brees is coming off of a loss, but he has a really appealing matchup this week in his home opener versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The Bucs sport one of the league’s worst defenses so they’re an excellent matchup for opposing fantasy quarterbacks.  Last week, Marcus Mariota looked like an elite QB against Tampa Bay.  Enter Drew Brees, who is an elite quarterback and someone who has faced Tampa Bay many times.  He won’t disappoint the home crowd and is the best high-priced option this week.

2)  Carson Palmer AZ @ CHI $6700

Carson Palmer, when healthy, is a starting play in just about any fantasy format – and especially this week in Draft Kings, when he will be facing the Chicago Bears. Chicago was a soft defense for quarterbacks to face last year, and Aaron Rodgers just proved you can have a good day in the air against the Bears this year as well.  Palmer looks healthy and with Andre Ellington getting banged up, expect the offense to filter through Palmer even more now.  Palmer was a good, middle-priced play last week and falls into the same type of play this week.

3) Andy Dalton SD @ CIN  $5800

I’m expecting a shootout with Philip Rivers at home.  Dalton wasn’t bad last week, going 25 for 34, for 269 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He has legitimate weapons in A.J. Green, Tyler Eifert, Jeremy Hill and Giovanni Bernard. He’s a super cheap option who could give you big production.

RUNNING BACKS

1) Matt Forte ARI @ CHI $7700

Forte looked electric in Week 1 and he is the focal point of that Chicago offense this year.  Defenses are going to have to plan for multiple weapons when facing Chicago, which is good for Forte.  He saw a lot of linebacker matchups last week, and I see him feasting this week in a high scoring game with Arizona.  He’s the most expensive running back on the board, but he is worth the Benjamins.

2) Carlos Hyde SF@ PIT $5100

Carlos Hyde is on top of the fantasy world after his performance on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings.  Yet, he’s only the 16^th most expensive option in weekly fantasy in Week 2.  He’s facing the Pittsburgh Steelers, so we will have a better idea of what to expect out of Hyde for the rest of the year after this week.  I say you should believe in the Week 1 blowup, and put him in your lineup week two as a good value play.

3) Ameer Abdullah DET @ MIN  $4500

Abdullah is facing the same Minnesota defense this week that Carlos Hyde lit up last week, making Abdullah a great option in Week 2 as a cheap play as an RB2 or in the flex.  Abdullah has shown he’s a threat as a runner and out of the backfield as a pass-catcher. Last week against the San Diego Chargers, he was used more and looked better than starting running back Joique Bell.  Abdullah is making a name for himself early, and he is a great play.

4) Darren Sproles PHI @ DAL $3500

Chip Kelly loves Sproles, who is in line to see a lot of the passing downs work for the Eagles. Oh, and Philadelphia happened to have attempted the most passes of any team in Week One.  Watching the Eagles play, it’s clear Sproles will be utilized a lot.  The touchdowns will have to be off longer plays, or screen plays around the red zone, so don’t expect many of those.  But expect a lot of catches and yards as Sproles is a go-to weapon for Kelly and the Eagles, especially this week when they face a Dallas Cowboys team that is poised to put up big numbers even with Dez Bryant being out.  You can expect Philadelphia to have to fight back and continue to throw the ball a lot, meaning you’ll want Sproles in your Draft Kings lineup.

WIDE RECEIVERS

1) Julio Jones ATL @ NYG $8900

If you watched the Monday night’s game, you will understand why I don’t have to write much here on why to spend the money on Julio Jones this week.  He will compete with Antonio Brown this year as the most dynamic wide receiver in the game.  In a game where I see Eli Manning and the Giants putting up some points, I expect Julio Jones to go off once again.

2) Brandin Cooks  TB@ NO $7000

If you have a decent memory, you will recall me writing about how Drew Brees is a great play this week.  Well, here’s his top weapon.  Play Cooks for all the reasons I already stated. One more time for those not paying attention: the Bucs’ defense is awful and will not be able to keep up with Cooks.

3) John Brown AZ @ CHI $5100

I’m really high on Carson Palmer and that aerial attack of the Cardinals right now, as previously mentioned.  John Brown was targeted second-most on his team with seven, just one behind Larry Fitzgerald.  Michael Floyd is still not going to be 100 percent, meaning more targets for Brown.  And even when Floyd is back to full health, Brown is still the big-play threat here in Arizona.  Brown has a good chance to get behind a bad Bears secondary this week, making him a great low-price option in Week 2.

4) Terrence Williams DAL @ PHI $4200

Terrence Williams is now the No. 1 wide receiver in Dallas with Dez Bryant missing the next 4-6 weeks with a broken bone in his foot.  Tony Romo threw the ball 67 percent of the time last week, and expect that trend to continue Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles.  This should be a high scoring game, where Philadelphia is going to be throwing the ball a lot with their up-tempo offense. That should be fine for Romo and his Cowboys offense.  They looked very good last week, and I expect their passing game to be just fine without Dez.  Williams will see more targets for many weeks to come, and he’s super cheap this week for a top option of a potent Dallas passing attack.

TIGHT ENDS

1) Rob Gronkowski NE @ BUF $7300

Like I said about Julio Jones, if you watched the New England game last Thursday, you understand why you should play Gronkowski. Rex Ryan says he’s not scared of the Patriots, but I’d be terrified of Tom Brady and Gronk.  When these two guys get into the red zone, they are the best in the league.  When healthy, Gronk very rarely has a bad day.

2) Tyler Eifert Cin SD @ CIN $4200

Eifert led all tight ends in targets in Week 1 with 12.  The Bengals are on the cusp of being an elite offense in the NFL.  Dalton has weapons through the air with A.J. Green and Eifert.  They have two backs with different styles in Jeremy Hill and Giovanni Bernard.  The point is that they are well rounded, with any one player having the chance to go off each week.  The Bengals are facing a Chargers defense that let Eric Ebron, the tight end in Detroit, score last week. Eifert is a good play against the Chargers this week and he’s not as expensive as you’d think after a dominant Week 1.

3) Zac Ertz DAL @ PHI $3600 

The question I had about Ertiz prior to the season was, what kind of usage was he going to get?  Well, he played 52 percent of plays in comparison to Brent Celek’s 27 percent in Week 1.  Additionally, he saw the third most targets of anyone on his team – a team that was the most pass happy in the NFL.  Expect the game against Dallas to be high scoring and for Ertz to have multiple opportunities to produce in the Eagles’ offense. Ertz is as cheap as it comes this week; utilize him if you decided to invest money elsewhere.

DEFENSES

1)  St. Louis Rams  @ WAS $3100 

The Rams have a great front four and they face a really rocky Washington Redskins offense.  Yeah, sign me up for the Rams as my D/ST this week. They’re the high-priced option, but they’re worth it.

2) Baltimore Ravens @ OAK $2900

The Ravens looked formidable against Denver last week, and now they’re playing a much worse offense in the Oakland Raiders. Derek Carr is a little banged up, which helps Baltimore too. The Ravens could get a takeaway or two and have a good performance against a young Raiders offense.

3) New Orleans Saints vs. TB $2800

Tampa Bay had the first-overall pick for a reason and they didn’t look much improved in Week One against the Tennessee Titans.  Rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota looked like a superstar against the Bucs, but Tampa Bay’s offense put up a pretty bad performance too.  New Orleans could be a good cheap play this week, especially since Jameis Winston is prone to turnovers as he adjusts to the NFL.
