Lynch’s mom calls for Seahawks’ offensive coordinator’s firing

Seven months after her son didn’t get the ball in the decisive play of the Super Bowl, and one day after he did get the ball to end a defeat, Delisa Lynch had her say.

In a Facebook post Monday night, the mother of Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch called for the Seahawks to fire offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, labeling him “the worst play caller ever.”

“(Bevell) should have been fired yes i said it Fired!!!” Delisa Lynch wrote.

The Seahawks lost the Super Bowl to the Patriots 28-24 when a pass by quarterback Russell Wilson from the New England 1-yard line was intercepted in the final seconds. Bevell came under heavy criticism for not having Marshawn Lynch run the ball.

On Sunday at St. Louis, the Seahawks trailed the Rams 34-31 in overtime when they faced a fourth-and-1 play. This time, Marshawn Lynch got the ball, and he was stuffed behind the line of scrimmage, sealing Seattle’s loss.

Delisa Lynch wrote, “The only reason he called that dumb … play yesterday is to be able to justify the 1 yard that wasn’t called in the superbowl ,but most fans already figured this out .were still on a mission but i know the Seahawks staff loves that play caller more than a win, go figure #nfldontpayme# I love this team and will stand up to anybody who tries to destroy it boom!!!!”

She added that Seahawks’ offensive line was better in the Super Bowl than it was Sunday, again intimating that Bevell chose the wrong option both times.
