Bills-Colts inactives: LB Mathis held out

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Indianapolis Colts linebacker Robert Mathis is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
Colts owner Jim Irsay said during the second week of training camp that the team would make every attempt to preserve Mathis, who is recovering from a 2014 season-ending Achilles injury.
Mathis was listed during the week as questionable.
Running back Vick Ballard, cornerback Greg Toler, cornerback D’Joun Smith, guard Hugh Thornton, right tackle Denzelle Good, and defensive end Billy Winn, acquired Friday from the Cleveland Browns, are also inactive for the Colts.
Quarterback E.J. Manuel, running back Bryce Brown, linebacker Tony Steward, center Gabe Ikard, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, tight end Chris Gragg and defensive tackle Andre Fluellen are inactive for Buffalo.
