Raiders officially cut QB Ponder

The Oakland Raiders officially released quarterback Christian Ponder on Saturday, leaving Matt McGloin as the backup to Derek Carr.

Oakland also cut veteran safety Taylor Mays, wide receiver Kris Durham and defensive lineman C.J. Wilson.

The team waived running backs George Atkinson and Michael Dyer; wide receiver Devon Wylie; offensive linemen Mitch Bell and Dan Kistler; tight end Brian Leonhardt; defensive linemen Shelby Harris, Ricky Lumpkin, Leon Orr, Max Valles and Gary Wilkins; linebackers Spencer Hadley and Josh Shirley; cornerback Tevin McDonald and kicker Giorgio Tavecchio.

Oakland also waived/injured tackle Anthony Morris and put safety Brandian Ross on injured reserve.
