Lions released QB Moore, TE Fauria
The Sports Xchange
The Detroit Lions released quarterback Kellen Moore and tight end Joseph Fauria on Saturday among 22 moves that put the team at the NFL-mandated 53-man roster limit.
The Lions also placed wide receiver Greg Salas and defensive end Corey Wootton on injured reserve and released cornerback Crezdon Butler, defensive tackle Jermelle Cudjo, safety Nate Ness and wide receiver Jeremy Ross.
They waived offensive linemen Al Bond, Braxston Cave, Joe Madsen, Xavier Proctor and Torrian Wilson; tight end Casey Pierce; running back George Winn; fullback Emil Igwenagu; defensive linemen Kerry Hyder, Larry Webster and Jerel Worthy; linebacker Julian Stanford; and defensive backs Isaiah Johnson and Brian Suite.
Moore had been with the team since he was undrafted out of Boise State in 2012, but he had never played in a game. Dan Orlovsky is Matthew Stafford’s backup.
Fauria scored seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2012, but he missed most of last season with an ankle injury and had been bumped from the No. 3 tight end spot this week when the Lions acquired Tim Wright.
