49ers release DT Dockett
The Sports Xchange
The San Francisco 49ers released veteran defensive tackle Darnell Dockett, according to reports Friday.
Dockett signed a two-year, $7.25 million deal with the 49ers in March as a free agent after missing all of last season with a torn ACL. He did not play in Thursday night’s preseason finale against the San Diego Chargers because of a rib contusion.
Dockett earned a $500,000 workout bonus and he has $2 million in guaranteed base salary, with offset language, according to Pro Football Talk.
The 34-year-old Dockett played 10 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals prior to his ACL injury. He has 40.5 career sacks.
