Falcons sign WR Harris, waive LB Spruill

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons signed wide receiver John Harris and waived linebacker Marquis Spruill on Monday.

Harris, 6-feet-2 and 215 pounds, originally signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in May as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Texas. Harris is one of six players in Longhorns school history to post a 1,000-yard receiving season.

Spruill, 6-feet and 224 pounds, was a fifth-round pick by the Falcons in 2014. Known for his special teams play coming out of college, Spruill suffered a torn ACL in training camp as a rookie and sat out all of last season.
