Bills LB Powell suffers torn ACL
The Sports Xchange
Buffalo Bills linebacker Ty Powell suffered a torn ACL Monday in a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns.
Powell had been working behind inside linebackers Preston Brown and Nigel Bradham.
“Terrible news,” Bills coach Rex Ryan said. “That’s just horrible news. That guy’s been playing great for us and really coming into his own. He finally found a home at inside linebacker and obviously was a key cog in our special teams. It’s going to be a great loss for us.”
Powell was a seventh-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2013 and spent time on the practice squads of both the Seahawks and New York Giants before the Bills picked him up in October 2013.
Powell will join defensive end Jairus Wynn (ACL) on the sideline for the season.
The Bills already have started looking for replacements, hosting linebackers Marcus Benard and Quentin Groves and defensive lineman Red Bryant for workouts on Monday.
