Eagles top Colts in lone Sunday preseason game

Kenjon Barner scored touchdowns on a 9-yard run and a 92-yard kickoff return to help the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Indianapolis Colts 36-10 in a preseason game on Sunday in Philadelphia.
Much of the attention in the game was focused on Tim Tebow, the third Eagles quarterback to get into the game. He threw for 69 yards and ran 7 yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
The Eagles’ No. 1 quarterback, Sam Bradford, as well as running back DeMarco Murray did not play Sunday.
The starting quarterback job was left to Mark Sanchez, who completed just two of seven passes, but tossed a 34-yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Nelson Agholor that put the Eagles ahead 7-3, a lead they never relinquished.
Barner, who played his college ball for Eagles head coach Chip Kelly while he was at Oregon, made it 13-3 with his touchdown run late in the first quarter, then added his punt return with four seconds left in the first half.
Colts starting quarterback Andrew Luck played less than two series, completing five of his six pass attempts for 43 yards before being replaced by Matt Hasselbeck midway through the Colts’ second drive.
The Colts are looking for more from their running game this year, and running back Zurlon Tipton got most of the carries early in the game. However, he rushed for just 34 yards on 16 carries, an average of 2.1 yard per attempt. He also caught four passes for 14 yards.
Indianapolis’ leading rusher Sunday was Josh Robinson, who had 44 yards on 10 carries.
