Rams guarantee Foles $13.8 million
The Sports Xchange
EARTH CITY, Mo. — The numbers are in for the two-year contract extension St. Louis Rams quarterback Nick Foles signed last Friday.
The deal is worth $26.068 million for three years. In 2015, Foles will be paid $6.042 million, an increase over the $1.542 he was scheduled to be paid. That includes a $1.042 guaranteed million salary, $3 million signing bonus and a guaranteed $2 million roster bonus to be paid on Sept. 1. His cap figure increases from $1.542 million to $4.068 million this year.
The total guarantees in the contract are $13.792 million.
In 2016, his base salary will be $1.75 million, currently guaranteed only for injury. It will become totally guaranteed on the third day of the 2016 league year. There is also a $6 million totally guaranteed roster bonus to be paid on the third day of the league year.
In 2017, his base salary rockets to $10.75 million and includes a non-guaranteed $1.75 million roster bonus. That year will void if Foles plays in 50 percent of the snaps in 2015 and 2016, plus the Rams make the playoffs or he makes the Pro Bowl or they win an unknown number of games.
There also is a three-year total of $13.5 million of unlikely to be earned incentives that can be earned at an equal rate of $4.5 million each year. To reach the total possible, there is a combination of playing time and wins or playoffs or playoff wins and a certain level of club/player rankings each season.
