49ers sign LB Lemon
The Sports Xchange
The San Francisco 49ers signed former CFL linebacker Shawn Lemon on Saturday, a reaction move to their release of Aldon Smith on Friday.
Lemson was undrafted in 2011 and has bounced around other leagues, including the Canadian Football League, Arena League and Indoor Football League.
In five CFL seasons, Lemon had 22 sacks. His best season came last year with Calgary, when he tallied 13 sacks and tied the CFL record with eight forced fumbles.
After the Stampeders released Lemon from his contract in January, he initially signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list with an Achilles injury and then waived.
