Report: Bears WR White to resume running
The Sports Xchange
Wide receiver Kevin White, the Chicago Bears’ first-round draft pick who has been out of training camp with a shin injury, reportedly will resume running next week.
It’s still possible White could start the season on the physically-unable-to-perform list due to the shin splints, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Thursday.
White was injured near the end of organized team activities in June and did not practice during minicamp.
So far, he hasn’t run on hard ground but has been rehabilitating in a whirlpool, according to Rapoport.
The Bears drafted White seventh overall out of West Virginia in May, and he was expected to fill the wide receiver spot vacated by Brandon Marshall, who was traded to the New York Jets last year.
The speedy 6-foot-3, 215-pound White was projected to start opposite wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.
In his absence, Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson are vying for the starting spot.
