Redskins host LB Galette

Junior Galette met with the Washington Redskins on Thursday in Richmond, Va.

Galette was released Monday following the release of a 2013 video that appears to show a physical altercation between Galette and a woman he whips with a belt.

He was cut even after posting 22 sacks the past two seasons with the New Orleans Saints. Parting with Galette resulted in a $17 million hit to the Saints and led to a tyrade from Galette that will prompt further character questions from the Redskins and other potential suitors.

Messages posted to his Twitter feed included personal attacks on former teammate Zach Streif regarding details of his divorce and alleges head coach Sean Payton “showed up drunk” to team meetings.

The Redskins signed outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan to an extension on Wednesday but are in the market for an upgrade on the other side. Mainstay Brian Orakpo, slowed by injuries in two of his past three seasons, left for the Tennessee Titans in free agency.

Galette could find a second chance with the Redskins, but league discipline is anticipated as more information — details the Saints likely already obtained — comes to public light.

The Saints added former Raiders coach Dennis Allen to the defensive staff and had a stated goal of improving the defense in the offseason.

Galette’s off-field issues were a question when he was drafted, having been kicked out of Temple.
