Eagles sign OL Wheeler
The Sports Xchange
The Philadelphia Eagles signed offensive lineman Jared Wheeler to a one-year contract Monday.
Wheeler, who was signed after working out for the team Monday, adds depth in the wake of veteran guard Evan Mathis’ release last week.
Wheeler, undrafted out of Miami in 2014, has spent time on the rosters of the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks.
Mathis will be replaced at left guard by Allen Barbre, and Matt Tobin, Andrew Gardner and Dennis Kelly are competing at right guard. Wheeler is expected to compete against rookie free agents Malcolm Bunche, Brett Boyko and Cole Manhart for a roster spot.
