Texans promote Godsey to offensive coordinator
The Sports Xchange
The Houston Texans promoted quarterbacks coach George Godsey to offensive coordinator on Monday.
The Texans went without an offensive coordinator last season as head coach Bill O’Brien ran the offense, along with Godsey.
“It’s really not too much different than what he did last year,” O’Brien said. “I just thought he did a heck of a job last year. Did a really good job of dealing with all the things that came up during the year and he deserves this opportunity.”
Godsey, who came to the Texans in 2014 after coaching tight ends for the New England Patriots, first worked with the head coach when O’Brien was an assistant at Georgia Tech and Godsey was one of the team’s quarterbacks. They worked together again in New England.
O’Brien said there won’t be a replacement at quarterbacks coach this year as the team’s offensive coaching staff can take care of those duties.
