Jaguars claim QB Tuel off Bills’ waivers
The Sports Xchange
Quarterback Jeff Tuel, waived by the Buffalo Bills last week after they picked up Matt Simms, was claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday.
Tuel, who played in two games for the Bills over the past two years, will be reunited with former Bills coaches Doug Marrone and Nathaniel Hackett, who are now assistants under Gus Bradley in Jacksonville.
To make roster room for Tuel, the Jaguars waived undrafted rookie quarterback Jake Waters. Tuel joins a depth chart headed by Blake Bortles and Chad Henne and could push Stephen Morris for the third spot, if the Jaguars keep three.
The Bills waived Tuel on Friday after new coach Rex Ryan decided to go with a familiar face himself, adding Simms, who had been on the New York Jets’ roster under Ryan.
