Steelers sign WR Coates
The Sports Xchange
Wide receiver Sammie Coates signed a four-year rookie contract on Friday with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The deal is worth $3 million with a $632,000 guaranteed signing bonus, the Montgomery Advertiser reported.
Coates, a third-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and No. 87 overall, was a three-year starter at Auburn and amassed 1,757 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns. He had seven games during his career with 100 or more yards receiving for the Tigers.
Last season, Coates totaled 34 catches for a team-leading 741 yards and four touchdowns. His 21.8 yards per reception ranked fourth nationally.
Coates’ deal leaves the Steelers with only one of their eight draft picks yet to come to terms.
