Browns Add Safety Ibraheim Campbell For Insurance
Browns grab a possible replacement for Tashaun Gipson in the fourth round.
Cleveland made one of the best picks of the fourth round by acquiring safety Ibraheim Campbell from Northwestern. One of the strengths of Cleveland’s team is the secondary and adding Campbell made it that much better.
The selection also has an eye on the future with Donte Whitner entering his 10th season and signed through 2017. Whitner still packs a punch and has emerged as a leader in Cleveland.
Campbell can learn from Whitner as he is like a sponge, and his attention to detail and ability to quarterback the defense will help him become a real factor moving forward.
The real concern is Cleveland’s other safety Tashaun Gipson, who could have a lengthy holdout and the Browns are now prepared by selecting Campbell. Gipson is a restricted free agent and the deadline to sign an offer sheet with another team has passed leaving him very limited options.
