Cleveland Browns Continue Strong Draft with Nate Orchard

The Browns continue to find steals every time they come on the clock, this time landing Utah pass-rush extraordinaire Nate Orchard.

The Browns sure aren’t drafting like a perennial bottom-dweller. After kicking off the draft by adding anchors to the middle of their defensive and offensive lines, the Browns kept the good times rolling by snatching Utah OLB Nate Orchard with the No. 51 overall pick.

Orchard exploded onto the scene with 18.5 sacks last season. That’s a staggering number for Browns fans, as Cleveland had no outside linebacker with more than two sacks a season ago. A rare combination of speed and power, Orchard can beat offensive linemen off the snap just as easily as he can run them over.

It also looks like GM Ray Farmer learned his lesson about the importance of a player’s character after last year’s disasters with Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel. Orchard, who is already a father and family man, has his head squarely on his shoulders and is considered a strong locker room presence.

By adding Orchard and Danny Shelton to the defensive front seven, the Browns have set themselves up to keep fighting their way up the AFC North standings after last season’s encouraging seven-win campaign.
