Texans Add Linebacker Benardrick McKinney
The Houston Texans added another piece to their defense. Find out if they were fleeced.
The Houston Texans added more defense as they selected former Mississippi State tackling machine Benardrick McKinney.
The Texans traded up and you can say they neither reached, nor received a bargain in Round 2 with McKinney, as he was rated as a second to third-round pick. Houston gave up a fourth and sixth-round picks to Cleveland to move up eight spots.
Still, Houston filled a need at linebacker as they really can’t count on former first-round pick Brian Cushing to stay healthy.
At 6-foot-4, 246 pounds, McKinney has the build of an outside linebacker, but played inside for Mississippi State. He has the athleticism to play outside and the Texans will likely line him up on the edge in pass rush situations along with Whitney Mercilus.
