Jim Kelly Announces Buffalo Bills 2nd Round Pick Ronald Darby
With AFC East teams stepping up on offense, the Bills step it up on defense via the NFL Draft
The Buffalo Bills second round choice was announced by an emotional and touched Jim Kelly, who received a standing ovation from the crowd. Kelly recently has overcome his battle with cancer and the Hall of Fame quarterback read, “With the 50th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft we the Buffalo Bills select Ronald Darby defensive back Florida State.”
New head coach Rob Ryan is putting his stamp on the defensive side of the football and I like the pick for the Bills. Buffalo has two talented cornerbacks already on the roster in starters Stephon Gilmore and Leodis McKelvin. Darby provides depth to a team built around defense.
While the Bills opponents in the AFC East are stacking their offenses, Buffalo is going the other way. The New England Patriots of course are the leader of the pack followed by two teams that have ramped up their passing offenses this off-season in the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.
The Bills led the NFL in sacks (54) last season and that number should continue to climb with Ryan’s attacking style defense and with the addition of Darby to the secondary. Opposing quarterbacks will have their options limited that much more as receivers downfield will be blanketed by the Bills new and likely improved secondary.
