With the 16th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans selected former Wake Forest cornerback Kevin Johnson.

“I really feel that Houston didn’t maximize the value of their pick with Kevin Johnson. They were clearly drafting based off of their needs (as most teams do) and I thought Johnson was borderline first-round talent. Breshad Perriman or Phillip Dorsett would have been more suitable in terms of value.” – Charlie Bernstein

“This is a really great addition to the defensive backfield in Houston. They already have the outstanding Kareem Jackson and Johnathan Joseph pairing, but although Joseph is still very productive, he’s getting up there in age. For now Kevin Johnson will instantly upgrade the team’s nickel defense and special teams, and eventually he’ll pair with Jackson allowing them to phase out the aging Joseph.” – Devon Jeffreys

“Kevin Johnson is a very good athlete at the corner position, but weighs under 190 pounds and could struggle against some of the stronger NFL receivers. Johnson won’t be a great press corner early in his career, but he can cover in space, and that’s important in today’s NFL. If the strength of NFL receivers isn’t too much for Johnson, he will be a solid corner who can match up with some of the NFL’s speedy receiving options. The Texans certainly want as many young men that can cover as they can get, matching up with Andrew Luck twice a year.” – Pat Donovan

“Possibly the least sexy pick made by anybody so far in the first round, because who the heck watches Wake Forest football without being paid to do so? With that said, Johnson could develop into a decent No. 2 corner. If Jadeveon Clowney comes back healthy this year, he certainly won’t have to cover guys very long.” – Alex Hickey
